I would go with The Promised Land

It’s a classic with obvious biblical conotations and it fits the themes of the New World perfectly. It was used by movies but not games as far as I know and I think it cannot be copyrighted.

If not that then no. 3 gets my vote.

Yeah, I like that a lot.... Best suggestion I've seen I think.

My half-serious suggestion is "The Age of Dissonance"...

I also prefer "Generation ship" instead of the 3 propositions.

What do you think of "Fate of Starfarer"?

1) The character is a starfarer and the game is a about, as once was well put, an epic quest from level 1 to level 10 (20 in original) i.e. about his/her fate

2) Starfarer is also a spaceship, and the actions done during the gametime shape and shift the fate of this ship. Moreover, at least some part of the game's plot will be about uncovering the history of the voyage i.e the fate of the ship

3) It uses the same grammatical construction as the "Age of Decadance" and thus makes a hint on the previos game or just highlights your style Grin. Furthermore "Fate of Starfarer" can be abbreviated to "FoS", which is easy to pronounce, use and remember.

Please let me know what you think Smile

Update:
4) I assume CSG is planned have the same level of replayablity as AoD and I like to replay AoD exploring different paths - to see what will hapen if you betray your guild and save Carrinas etc. Basically each playthrough is a unique Fate, and the name conveys the idea and well invites the player to live/explore different fates.

5)
Quote from: R.A.H.
The Proxima Centauri Expedition, sponsored by the Jordan Foundation in 2119, was the first recorded attempt to reach the nearer stars of this galaxy. Whatever its unhappy fate we can only conjecture. -- Quoted from The Romance of Modern Astrography, by Franklin Buck, published by Lux Transcriptions, Ltd., 3.50 cr.

Something short, simple and stylish like "Cowboy BeBop" or "Firefly". "Ecclesiastes".

I voted "Pilgrims of Earth". Hands down better than the other options.

I voted for the second name, AKA The unpopular one. It has an Infocom vibe that I like.

deGENERATION SHIP

The 'de' can be in totally rad spray paint, over ship-standard block letters.

How about:

Novo Mundo

The New World in Latin. Or:

Novae Terrae

I had similar thoughts. Why change the name, rather than just the language the name is in? A title doesn't need to be composed of English common nouns, and it would be more distinctive if it weren't.

Norwegian / Danish: Ny Verden (or maybe Nyverden)
Scots Gaelic: Saoghal Ùr (or Saoghalur)
Croatian: Novi Svijet (or Novisvijet)
Or my favorite, Filipino: Bagong Mundo

However, a game in English with a title in another language would create the expectation that the language of the title would bear some sort of cultural relationship to the game. Latin has become sufficiently devoid of cultural expectations, at least when you're already assuming a Western perspective.

So this may not be the best idea, but I definitely think it would be a worse idea not to take this opportunity to make the Colony Ship RPG's title more distinctive and less generic. Otherwise there's always Colony Ship 2277.

That's not bad. I'd say even just "Degeneration" but apparently that's the subtitle of a Resident Evil game, so that probably wouldn't fly (not sure how trademarking works, but I'm sure ITS would rather avoid any potential lawsuits).   Or perhaps "The Age of Degeneration" Smile

Another one I'll throw out there:

via the codex
Quote from: Ismaul
I think you should consider a title with the word "Bound" in it. Bound for a place, bound together, stuck within the bounds of the ship. Also the idea of a leap (of faith, of science). Plus a hint of the hope and excitement that was contained in the idea of a "new" world.

If you were to rename the ship to "Paradise", then "Paradise Bound" could make for a good title. References the original goal of the first pilgrims as well as the fated existence of the current inhabitants.

More obliquely, it also has some literary resonance with "Prometheus Bound", which story shares some affinity with the stealing of fire from the gods (the Mutiny) and the consequent division among the gods favoring the rebel or the tyrant (Brotherhood v. Protectors).

Quote from: Percy Shelley
Was not my gift a blessing to mankind?
True! I for them from heaven's own fountain stole
A spark of fire--but did not fire give light,
Teaching all arts to render less the sum
Of human misery, and enable man
The better to support the load of being?
This is the front of my offence....and now,
What is the sentence I am doomed to meet--
Indissoluble chains, and to converse
With ever-lasting groans, prisoned beneath
This dungeon-vault of the air--
Woe, Woe for ever!
