As the name says, this is the thread for UI feedback.

The plan for the UI was originally very green, like old school DOS or the Matrix. But I'm feeling like it's overpowering the art, which is rarely as saturated.

So what about a more neutral blue? I haven't changed the whole UI yet, just the main screen. Note, that main screen image is really blue already, but it isn't the final piece that I'm going to be using for that splash screen. So keep that in mind.

Attached both versions for comparison.

Can you also try the turquoise-green from the first image in the other post?

Sure.

Here's another one, it's not as turquoise or saturated as the logo in the other post (I'll try that now), but it's a bit more green.

Yeah that last one works real well, it gets that happy middle of retro vibe and look I can see.

Though I still think it draws the eyes alot(regardless of color), maybe make the menu smaller would fix that(after all the artwork is great)?

The new design is not awesome, but better, and I like the scanlines version.

I think the glow effect needs to be toned down a bit for a more clean look. Then bright green might work better.

That's also my fav, but if a lot of stuff in the match GUI is also like that I think my eyes will hurt after a while.

I like the blue/green one, but if this thread is anything to go by getting the colour 'just right' probably isn't going to happen as we've all slightly different tastes. I do think most everyone is in agreement that the bright green was a bit too overpowering (except for Nick ;p )

I prefer the green, aesthetically, but I don't like it as much from a usability standpoint. Why not make the color user-configurable, at least within a narrow range of options?

The third-party UI plugin I'm using doesn't have that kind of feature at the moment. I can add it, but it would take time. Time I don't think I have. For now, I'm going to just have to do the best I can.

Definitely prefer the blue-green.

Quickly tried Ghan's circuitry idea. What do you guys think?

I'm not sure myself, it's kinda cool but I am a little worried about it making the screen look too "busy".

I gotta say, that circuitry looks really great, it gives the appearance that the card your playing is being "jacked in" or something suitably cyperpunk.

I'd say wholeheartedly to stick with it.

Ha, I totally disagree. Grin I don't mind the idea of having circuitry on the blank card space, but this circuitry art just seems too coarse, not detailed and varied enough. I'd rather it have the effect of being a more subtle, less opaque background texture, if that makes sense. Between those two alternatives, I prefer the blank one.

I vote for the circuits, and yes they are both a bit too coarse and too repetitive as they are. Maybe have each slot have its own pattern, or better, one big pattern only showing through the empty slots.

yeah, now that i think about it maybe more variety of circuitry would be better.

Even just another 2-3, or even just mirroring the curent one on some of them.

Agreed, the circuitry is a bit too coarse at the moment. I wanted to see if the effect would be worthwhile before spending much time on it.

But since the response is generally positive, I'll make something more detailed and add a few variations.
