1  RPG / Dead State Bugs and Feedback / Re: Shelter playground on: May 03, 2015, 05:00:08 pm
I love this idea! I've always thought the shelter upgrade system needs more
to it, it needs to be fleshed out and what there is now, is a great skeleton of
what can be. Even if there was no overall graphical change, just being able
to continue building for as long as you play would be great and a nice change.

No one knows when rescue is coming, so they would always be building some
thing new. Why would there be 30+ people doing nothing all day when some
have specialized knowledge that can improve living conditions. It would help
with all that extra building material that, otherwise, is useless.

It is a fantastic game, and the last update answers a staggering amount of wishes that we had.
It is a franchise I hope to play well into the next decade! Honestly, it answers a need that no other
game seems to. I could see the game evolving in some very interesting directions with the first
game as a base upon which to build. The zombie "trend", as all my fellow horror buffs know, is
just the mainstream waking up to what the horror fans have always known. So Dead State will
continue to be viable, and with new people will continue to discover just how fun the game really
is. Good luck!
3  RPG / Dead State General Discussion (No Spoilers) / Re: Can we do anything with excess unique parts? on: January 10, 2015, 02:13:07 pm
Plenty of games have some form or mention of cannibalism, And as an indie game, I highly doubt
it will gain enough press to enforce such a ban. Hell, if it did, it would just be free advertising for
the game and we all know what happens when people are denied something, they just want it
even more!!

As for dogs and cats being "companions" heh. I find it cute you are telling me "how people think"
as if there is something wrong with me, that I cannot fathom how "normal" people think and that
you speak for all people. All points are both insulting and completely subjective. China, having the
largest population of any country are "not people" according to Greyman, not to mention that plenty
of animals, like rabbits, pigs and birds have been kept as "companion pets" but are still fair game
for being eaten in western countries despite that fact.

Some people just exist in a box, thought-wise, and cannot see anything outside of their perspective.
Sad, but it prevents them from understanding things not immediately in their cultural or personal
sphere of influence.

@Caidoz, try telling that to any survivors in terrible situations where food was scarce. Cannibalism
by choice might be applicable, but having to resort to eating fellow humans who have died because
you are nearly dead of starvation is a sad but real fact of life for those in certain, harsh situations.
I was not suggesting the addition of silly Fallout 2 elements, but adding difficult, but ultimately necessary
choices like "eat your fellow human, or die a horrible death". Done properly, it would add gravitas that
would add much to Dead State. Of course, this would be dependent on a more difficult and scarce game
mode (or normal mode with players doing really poorly). Read the following link and tell me that it is
in the same realm as mad cults, sewer monsters, glowing ghouls or whatever.

4  RPG / Dead State General Discussion (No Spoilers) / How to get my kickstarter patron badge? on: January 07, 2015, 11:43:52 pm
I had forgotten to change my email, but is that all there is to it,
or does a mod need to add it?
5  RPG / Dead State General Discussion (No Spoilers) / Re: The way criticism should look like on: January 07, 2015, 11:38:32 pm
Agreed, the hate band wagon BS that is happening is without any merit and I'd
be shocked to see the team put much effort into working on the game, and that,
is what makes me despise those "people". It's one thing to make up bugs and
full on lie about a game, its another to start a witch hunt and try to destroy the
careers of indie developers when these same "people" are too cowardly to go
after big triple A titles that have teams of lawyers behind them.

While I wish we could get more party banter in time, with the way things have gone
for the developer, I highly doubt we will see much more new content. I mean, why
put all this effort and money when a large group of angry young boys have nothing
better to do with their youth than trying to discredit your game. Where will new money
come from when anyone can post any old review full of lies about your game and
steal potential customers?
6  RPG / Dead State General Discussion (No Spoilers) / Re: Can we do anything with excess unique parts? on: January 07, 2015, 11:30:21 pm
I never get the western hypocrisy when it comes to dogs and cats.
You have factory farms where farm animals live torturous lives and
and are fed their fellow animals (animal level cannibalism)  but don't
dare hurt a dog. I think after an apocalypse, all the western BS would
drop away and all animals would be seen as what they are, the same.

Se yes, dogs should drop meat... if you're ok with meat and you're
starving, you damn well better learn that you'd chow down a dog if
it came down to it. Hell, cannibalism should've been in the game for
events where the shelter fell on hard times (not bloody likely in the
current version/difficulty) but a hardcore iron man mode with
cannibalism would be awesome!
7  RPG / The Shelter - Official Dead State Forum / Re: Is this game balanced around 1 scavenger run / day? on: December 30, 2014, 01:14:27 am
Personally, I think save scumming and delicately/only attacking zombies from behind might be why everyone has such an easy time of it. I've had issues, such as the nearby church, where I can't avoid activating several and they're deadly if they knock you to the ground. I'm basically dead if on the ground and another zombie joins in. Massive damage. A big change would be nearby zombies joining in the fight like they do in any zombie fiction. Even if you refuse to let them shamble around, which would be an awesome change, at the very least they should notice a melee brawl happening a few feet away from them!! Also, I agree with humans being tough. The faction fighters can get pretty tough. Also, love the idea about the recycler being a job! Leave the ratio as it was pre-release but make it a job!! The game needs more jobs and upgrades AND visual changes to show when an upgrade is built! Seriously, what do they need hyndreds of man hours if the room looks almost exactly the same?! What were they doing?!
8  RPG / Dead State General Discussion (No Spoilers) / Re: how do i change the mood of the main character (leader) on: December 29, 2014, 07:40:11 pm
Yet another vote to just remove the characters that cannot be mood-improved or affect morale. Kinda silly it's even there to begin with, and quite frustrating to perfectionist gamers... a very common type of RPG gamer.
9  RPG / Dead State General Discussion (No Spoilers) / Re: The way criticism should look like on: December 29, 2014, 07:36:37 pm
Yes, more general liveliness and animation would add a ton. Even a few frames of the survivors moving whilst standing would do wonders. Play cards, chatting with each other or even occasionally scratching or swaying would make it feel a world more alive.
10  RPG / Dead State General Discussion (No Spoilers) / Re: So Many Complainers on: December 29, 2014, 07:32:04 pm
I've never had a single crash playing Dead State, which is not something I can say about most triple A games like any Bethesda game. Indie developers have become favourite targets of trolls/losers (esp. after #GamerGate) because they can actually see a result to the misery they spread. They can bankrupt an indie dev, but barely make any news attacking an EA or Activision game, besides, big puclishers are "winners" and these twats like to pick on smaller game, like kids do on a playground. Honestly, some criticism of Dead State is true, but the insane level of bugs that came about from the hate bandwagon is absurdist to say the least. We may not get a Dead State 2, let alone an expansion or DLC, honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they felt defeated or would rather move on from this mess. The game is truly, deep down, a great title, that just needs more polish. All game breaking bugs have been fixed a while now and it can only get better if those POS trolls would move on. I genuinely would pay for and play more Dead State in a heart beat (just add more to the combat system please Wink )
11  RPG / The Shelter - Official Dead State Forum / Re: Ironman mode? game is great, but too easy on: December 14, 2014, 10:26:04 pm
Wait. When a zombie takes you down, if a zombie joins in, you die.

As for "human enemies are so easy, just equip some military armour"
because there's so much military armour lying around.... oops, no
there isn't. Besides, any game gets easy after you play it as much s
most of you guys have. You make a break for the best armour/weapons/
NPCs on day one then complain the game's easy. Going the normal,
starting with areas nearby and getting further and further away from base
makes these kinds of comments false.

I've had difficulty in areas with packed undead. If you're unlucky and get
tackled by the undead, you take a good bit of damage. Like anything,
there's always those that master a game then act like the game is way too
easy and don't understand how anyone could find the game hard.

If you just attacked zombies as-is without delicate set up in order to single
them out and attack from behind, you'd see just how difficult the game can be.
Hell, you can cheap out most enemies in most games if you make the effort
and know the game well enough.
12  RPG / Dead State General Discussion (No Spoilers) / Re: Can we do anything with excess unique parts? on: December 14, 2014, 09:20:47 pm
A thousand times yes!!! to rat-burgers! It would be great to have an option to process the "bad" food
(and to have more types of bad food, like stale bread, flat soda, or other grosser food) into something
edible, but you have to find an item, build an upgrade, or set someone up to process bad food (or all 3).

Also, the other suggestions are great. Have uses for extra items, if not for the recycler, then set up "upgrade"
options in the build tab. Heck, have them take much more if you feel it is overpowered. There are many ways
to offset the positives. It would also do a lot of good to prolong the build options. Actually, you shouldn't be
able to finish all upgrades in one game, either by having so many that it would take too long, or there would
not be enough resources OR certain build options cannot exist at the same time, ie they take up the same area.

Heck, the gym seems like it could have more than one use. The game seems like it has a ton of potential to add
and I truly hope to see this in the future. Dead State is full of untapped potential yet.

I agree.
14  RPG / Dead State Bugs and Feedback / Re: Horses on: December 07, 2014, 01:06:54 am
Nope, literally after my first outing, travel is slowed to a crawl and party members get kicked. Let me guess, you go for the horses day one?
15  RPG / The Shelter - Official Dead State Forum / Re: Feedback: Lack of enemy instadeath on: December 07, 2014, 01:01:24 am
Combat is the one aspect of the game that could do with substantial improvement.
(Along with advanced base upgrades that require blueprint found in hard to reach
maps) Otherwise, the game does much well. Its just the things that need work
do distract from an otherwise excellent game.
