Hello, I'm new here Smile.

I'm wondering if AoD will run on my computer...
What are it's system requirements?

TGE system requirements are Pentium III 1000, 512 MB RAM. About the graphics card, AoD worked fine on GeForce4 MX440 with 64mb onboard. We'll be able to be more precise about this before release.

And BTW, welcome to the forums Smile

That's funny, you pretty much just said my system... just replace the Pentium with an AMD Athlon. Good to now that even with all the graphical improvements my computer will still be able to handle the game. I've been worried about that for awhile.

Most graphical improvements are of a artistic nature, without increasing the requirements too much.

I have one rule in my life of a gamer... never trust system requirements... Some great looking games can run smooth on minimal req spec. Some of them can run like shit on recommended specs. Look on Gothic 3 or NWN2.

Good thing they are pretty cheap these days. I remember paying 220 dollars for 4 megs of RAM about 12 years ago... Now I can buy 1GB for 30 dollars...

Does that mean that the graphics engine doesn't use Pixel Shader 1.1 or better at all? Or that there is an option to disable shader affects? Looking at screen shots I was hoping that the game would use it, reflective water and such is always a nice addition. Not a big deal for me, or anything, just wondering.

From memory, a GeForce4 MX440 is basically a very slightly upgraded GeForce 2, and not capable of pixel shading.

Right, that's why I am wondering. It just seems a bit odd, that a 3D game (even Indy) wouldn't support PS.

Did you get it online? Is there any brand you'd advice staying away from?

I got it online at a Portuguese (where I live) shop. Team Elite, it's the brand. I advice you to stay away from OEM. Other than that, I don't have much experience. Corsair is very good, Team Elite is also good (not so much for overclocking the DIMMs) and I don't know any more brands in detail. You can ask over at anandtech if you're interested. Best place to look.

Torque Game Engine doesn't support pixel shaders.

TGEA does, but it was too crude and unstable when we switched to 3D.

I was planning to go Corsair, but if I can get a deal like that with a decent brand, I'll take it (I'm not planning to OC the ram). I'll search for it now, but would you mind giving me the name of the site? I live 45 minutes away from the northern Portuguese border so they might not charge too much for shipping.
