I do not know if such an thread has been already made but I did not find it so here goes a new one:

Create-Your-Character-O-Rama-And-Comment-Others-Characters-Thread!

My first character will be Gwendol, with following stats:

str 4 dex 6 per 4 con 8 int 8 cha 10  for total of 40 points.

I do not know the exact formulas for skills so cannot calculate those yet. Yesh, I am excited about the game and bit bored if you could not guess so far...  Smile

Based on that, she will be Loremaster or Trader though the wily female assasin is not totally out-ruled either.

Our dear little Gwendol is greedy and selfish, believing that everything and everyone has a price, even loyalty and love. Perfect for a dark, backstabbing PA-world.

I'll probably try a light figher first. I usually have a fighter character in my first go at a CRPG just to get a feel for the combat system (and since most games are very combat heavy).

Str 6 Dex 10 Per 5 Con 6 Int 8 Cha 5 I might take a point from Intelligence and put in Con. Skill focus will be Dodge, Critical Strike and my weapon of choice. Some sort of fast sword, or maybe a spear to keep opponents away from me, not sure how viable that is though.

As for affiliation, I'm thinking that starting as a mercenary is a somewhat neutral starting point. The only conversation skill I'll put points in will be Streetwise I believe, I can't stand bullshit.

I'm going for a fairly smart ranged assassin, personally:

str 4
con 6
dex 9
int 7
per 10
cha 4.

Skills to focus on would be Bows, Dodge, Critical, and Alchemy, with minor investment in Lore, Daggers, and Streetwise.

Not sure about my stats, but on my first run through I shall be creating an assassin.

I'll be going with a theif that looks something like:
Str: 4
Con: 4
Dex: 10
Int: 9
Per: 9
Cha: 4

Skills to focus on:
Sneak
Steal
Lockpicks
Streetwise

minor investments:
Traps
Disguise

Of course, if this would be gimped, it would be nice to know.

Let's see... STR 8, CON 8, DEX 10, INT 4, PER 5, CHA 5; skills focusing on knives, unarmed combat (if available), sneaking and picking locks.

Whoa, loads of DEX-lovers here!  Tongue

Nothing wrong with that. Personally, I am usually a wizard but since that
is out of the picture, I will do things differently and go for the diplomatic/persuasion-route.
Atleast the first time!

I wonder how big is the difference between INT 4 and INT 10, skillpoints-wise? I remember Vince saying that
any ability score that high would be awarded somehow...

IIRC, if your intelligence is 10, you get 4 extra skill points every 10 you earn. Basically, a 40% bonus.

And a trait. 10 points in a stat are rewarded by a special trait. From a Codex thread:

"Without making a sound you pull out a knife and expertly throw it. The knife stops in midair as if hitting an invisible barrier and falls to the ground.

The magus turns around slowly, until his eyes find you. Suddenly you realize that you don't really want to kill him. His life is important to you somehow and you must do whatever it takes to protect him from other assassins.

1. Guard the mage
2. [intelligence] Even though you feel nothing but an obsessive desire to protect the mage at all costs, you know that your will is no longer your own. There must be a way out.

if 2:

1. [intelligence] Try to resist. Block all emotions and focus on a simple task: take a step toward the magus.
2. [perception] It must be his eyes. Lower your hood over your eyes and fight blind.
3. [charisma] Two can play this game. Lock your eyes with the magus' eyes and try to force your will on him. (works only if Cha = 10 ) *

if 2:

1. You feel better. The desire to protect the magus fades. It's time to finish the job.
2. Try something else. (go to the previous step)

if 1. You hear a sound to your right.

1. Take a step to the right and swing with your dagger.
2. [perception] It's not a sound a man would make. Most likely it was something he threw to distract you. Keep moving toward the magus.
...

If your Cha is 10 you get Personal Magnetism trait; it works like Jedi Mind Trick. It won't take you everywhere, but it will make a lot of things fun.

that sounds so cool. is there any way to raise your primary stats during the game? no that its terribly important but i would hate to put 10 points in DEX only to find some item that raises DEX and not be able to take advantage of it.

i remember in fallout 2, specifically tailoring my character to maximize the advantage of the stat bonuses you get throughout. i think i did manage to get all 10s once.

Ooh... superpowers. Well, sort of.

Are there other traits that have similar-ish effects but are acquired in different ways, like by reading a certain tomes, training under a certain master, raising a certain skill sufficiently, or whatever?

Not really. It's hypnosis. It kind of makes sense that an extremely charismatic individual would be able to mesmerize and hypnotize people under certain conditions. Unlike the magus you won't be able to command people, but you'd be able to resist his attempt to control you in this particular case and make minor mental suggestions to relaxed people. You won't be able to calm down a guy who wants to kill you or an alerted guard though.

No. Natural abilities only.

Any chance of a list of what each stat does at a full 10?

I'm not so sure what kind of character my first one will be, but I know that my second one will be a traditional ugly as hell village idiot called Urgh. Had one in fallout, another one in arcanum - they never fail to deliver!
URGH SMASH!
