Body Count, Loyalty, Word of Honor, Combat, Prestige, and Peacemaker.

Do they do anything or are they just for keeping records? I've searched the forums, but I didn't find anything. Also what's the difference between body count and combat?

At a guess, one would be how many you've killed while the other would be how many you've beaten in combat.  Assuming that there's none lethal combat in the game and that there are opportunities to kill people outside of combat, the two would be separate.

I think Vince has said before that these are not just for show and that there are ingame consequences for each of the stats.

Is combat still "non-lethal" by default until you deliver a killing blow to a downed opponent like in Gothic, or has this changed?

I'll let Vince explain how the rep stats work, but they definitely do have some effect. I tested the new merchants questline with different characters, including my "fighter" who did a lot of damage at the mining outpost. That's the effect of high body count, apparently.

Cool. So the more you fight, the less you fight?  Cool

IIRC, it affects intimidation attempts, among other things. Vince will explain it more indepth.

Alrighty. I can see how it might work within your own guild but outside? Say, you are a deadly assassin. How would anyone outside your guild know about your personal achievement?

How indeed? How do we know about Carlos the Jackal, Jack 'Machine Gun' McGurn (Capone's top hitman), or even people like Alexander Solonik (interesting read, take a look)? No matter what you do, when you start being good at something, the word gets out. Of course, nobody knows anything for sure, but they suspect that you had something to do with it.

In case you didn't notice, the guy doesn't say "his body count is 14 and combat is 12". He says that people say you kill a lot. Does he know for sure? No. Does he want to find out the hard way? No.

Aww man. Having lots of kills deprives me of more kills? If I was a fighter, I'd rather kill those guys.  Wink

You could still kill them, if you want. The game just won't have THEM try to kill YOU.
