No sewers at all?  But where will the half-breeds of Innsmouth go?

This is awesome. I've just begun reading Lovecraft's stories, so this comes at a great time. I'm heavily interested in that one.

No sewers? Do you really consider limiting all low-level rat-fighting quests to tavern cellars to be such a good idea?

An intriguing project and a terrific idea in overall. I wish You the best of luck, pushing all of Your ideas to fruition won't be an easy task.

On a side note, it strikes me as remarkable that You're nestled under VD's protective wings.
Vince, Your devotion to the cause is admirable.

I thought Lovecraft's favourite adjective was 'queer'.

This will be either a horrible experiment or the begining of something legendary. Here's hoping for the later. Good luck, seriously.

I personally am gunning for the word 'antediluvian' to appear at least once.

Good news to hear. I wish you luck and most of all, success!

I wonder why you call the team "Team Omega" though. If you call it "Team Beta" it will leave 22 letters for new teams and new projects to come when all of you guys are rich and prosper!  Grin

To be honest, a revolution in game mechanics is not my goal.  I have some different ideas about handling stats and conversations, for example not having a Charisma stat, but I'll go into that later.  Personally, I'm more interested in chucking out some RPG conventions that seem to be assumed at the start of every project by every RPG developer since 1988.

Why isn't there non-lethal combat?  Why can't you knock on someone's door, instead of walking into their house?  Why are there only five animations for most NPCs?  And other, typical topics gone over in the AoD forums.

The boundaries of the genre, which IMO are extremely narrow, I intend to stretch, hopefully in the same way Fallout did, by starting with innovative settings and concepts and basing the game on those concepts, not creating a D&D clone, setting it in the 20th century, and substituting gugs for orcs.

Actually, the Gothic series features non-lethal combat.

And I'm actually interested in helping out a bit. I am currently studying Computer Engineering and as such am also learning C/C++ (and some basic Java, which I don't think you'll be using) in my curriculum. Whenever you are in need of coding, just PM me. If I don't reply it means I have no time. If I do I'll make sure I will have the time.

The best of luck to you and your future team (even if you don't need me :p). Looks like a real nice idea.
Good night.

Not having read any Lovecraft, I don't know how much combat is involved, but it seems strange to me that there would be a lot of it (and certainly not standard RPG style with the protagonist killing hundreds of enemies). What's the role of combat going to be? Is there even a need for a seperate combat system?

Though even if there's standard slay-the-hordes type gameplay, it sounds like it's aimed in the right direction. Looks like we might have a good and proper renaisance for the cRPG underway.

It's already on my list.

Huh?  There's more than a few RPG's where the number of dead at the end is considerably less than "hundreds".  I like combat, and occasionally engaging in thought provoking, turn-based combat will be an available path in the game.  No one will be fighting Azathoth hand-to-hand, but there are other human beings in the world and lesser Mythos creatures who do not instantly drive you mad on sight.  Sometimes killing them will be one of your problem-resolution options.
