Cyclopean got mentioned in CD Action, the biggest gaming mag in Central Europe (about 140000 copies of every issue). There's only a bit of smallishly typeset text, but still - it's on the first page of their news section, under the "Lovecraftian oldschool" heading. There's also a link to the Iron Tower website. Congratulations to Scott on managing to get spotted by the "main stream" media Grin

And Scott, uh, did you get my (big) PM?

Congratulations to Iron Tower for also being mentioned them.  Maybe get some traffic for AoD.

Vince mentioned this to me during the interview I made with him, but I've only had the chance now to comment. I won't be saying much for now, other than congratulations and here's hoping it all goes for the best Wink I'll be keeping an eye on this one for sure.

There is something I've always wondered about the whole chutullu myths, are they supposed to be divine, or simply aliens who got worshiped as Gods?

They are aliens, but very alien, creatures whose motives and very nature are as beyond the understanding of man, as a man's nature is beyond that of a mayfly.  To a mayfly, a man may well be divine.

Will there be any form of weapon modification? I really enjoy making a custom weapon, it makes the weapon MY gun instead of just a pistol. Even if it isn't the best gun available, like the magnum speed loader or the scoped hunting rifle from Fallout 2. I was loathe to give either up for a sniper rifle or the .223.

I know this is set in the early 1900's so there might not be as much room for modifying weapons, but I like the strategy that goes into it. In Deus Ex every time I found a weapon mod I would sit there looking at all my guns for five minutes trying to decide the best weapon to put that mod on.

For me it's a lot more fun to be able to modify a small selection of weapons than to choose from among a large selection. Why have 30 different guns when you can have 5 base types which you can tweak into hundreds of combinations.

I wasn't planning on it.  There are a thousand different things from many great games I would like to include, but I have to be careful where I commit my efforts.  Weapon modification is far down the priority list because of the setting and subject matter.  I'm more interested in working out a cogent research/discovery system for arcane knowledge (ie. finding things out about Mythos entities), local history and spells.

Oh it definitely isn't a high priority in a game like this, combat should be at the bottom of the list if you ask me. I was just suggesting that for the same amount of work it would take to make 50 weapons, maybe you can make 5 weapons with 10 options each. I don't know if that is true or not, as far as the time it would take, just something to think about.

As far as the research system goes I hadn't even though about the implementation. The fact that you intend for it to be so in depth is very promising. I'd love to hear more about that. I work for an indie developer so I know all about priorities. If it helps at all the only research system I can think of right now is the X-Com system, obviously that wouldn't work in this game, but maybe it can give you some ideas? I suppose the idea of dissecting a mythos creature to gain understanding about it doesn't fit quite as well, and capturing a live one is right out Smile. Anyway really looking forward to the game and hearing more about it, the character generator has got me pumped up.
