From what I near there will be a download version and a DVD version of the game with a book and a jewel box cease (whatever that means..).
I know that it might be a bit to early to talk about it but if you know please replay.
When you will make a Linux and a Mac versions, how are you going to publish them...
Will it be like in "Eschalon" , that a you can choose to download between the 3 clients and when you buy the box version you get all 3 clients at "no cost".
Or will it be like Bioware's NWN or ID software games that you buy the Windows version and then download the Linux files and use the Windows files to play ?
Or maybe something different ? a Multi OS client (.zip, tar, iso) ?
If you buy the box version, will you automatically get to download the game right away like "Eschalon" ?
P.S
Not related question but a short one - would the game be dubbed and to what extent ? (voice acted)

Means it won't be a paper sleeve. Boxed version will include a full color, professionally produced box (as good or better than what you see in stores), full color glossy manual, full color glossy map. And the aforementioned CD case, of course.

We haven't given it any thoughts, and I'd hate to lie to you.

Thanks for the quick replays.
Although the Jewel box makes the game appear more prestige, I suspect it will drive the costs much higher.
I think that most people will settle up with normal box to make the costs lower.

There's not such thing as a "normal box". The normal edition comes with the jewel box, for 50$. The digital doesn't come with a box, for 25$...
Unless I'm mistaken? Vince?
Oh, and btw, how much will be the download? I'm guessing around 1,5GB? Maybe less?

I know about the plans to make the box version in Jewel box, I was just suggesting that maybe if they make a "normal" box and it will lower the cost of the box game it will be better for the costumers.
I mean why do the costumers need a "good box" ? they just play the game and read the manual, but they open the box and never use it.
So if the jewel box itself can lower the cost (in about 5 bucks or more) it would be better to make a normal box.
But maybe it's just me.

A jewel box IS a regular CD case. It's the most affordable box out there, save for paper packages. There's no real "jewels" in the box
. check this out:

Now, I would prefer a plastic DVD-case myself and pay a little extra for that.

O.... and I was thinking that it's some kind of "special" and more expensive box

So will it be a standard DVD-Case (as we usually see in the stores today, originally used for movies) or will it be a cardboard box with the paper stuff and an extra plastic-case for the CD? (as was standard 10 years ago and is called Collector's Edition today)
As for the manual, how big will it be? Will we browse through it while playing the game (cf. Fallout, Baldur's Gate) or read it once or never at all? When it isn't just a booklet telling us how to install the game, how to operate a mouse-button and how to prevent an epileptic fit, I would really prefer a spiral-bound manual.
A spiral-bound manual still looks as new after 10 years of replaying the game time and again (and using the manual), while a paperback manual shows the first wrinkles after a few days. When it's just a couple of pages clipped together there isn't much to worry about anyway.

Vince said that there will be a jewel case, so try fitting one of these into a DVD case and you'll have your answer.

I don't think the manual has to be inside the box...

Most likely it will be a cardboard box, not plastic. I deal a lot with the printing industry in my line of work, so getting everything printed, folded, and inserted won't be an issue. We are one of the biggest clients of some printing businesses and I'll be able to ensure that my good friend Vince Weller gets quality products at reasonable rates.
I've never done anything with plastic boxes, so I wouldn't know where to start or what questions to ask.
