might be off topic: apart from the horses (which I wouldn't miss if there were none) will in AoD dogs and other small animals be roaming around? I went through most of the pics in the screenshot galery but couldn't find any.

It's quite probable.

Any rodents? If there is no quest involving killing rats in a cellar, the game cannot be considered RPG. No sir.
As for cavalry... Aren't the nomads supposed to be horsemen? I don't think AoD will feature any large-scale battles (right?) but horses at least should be mentioned.

We are thinking of including horses as "filler", standing in a stable, but not as ridable mounts.

Fine with me. ... but I, personally, wouldn't even miss those "fillers".

Fine by me! We could understand that gamemakers dont have the resources to do everything needed, but we surely will look askance if some elements are deliberately snipped from the game's world

I'd be happy with that. Gives something to look forward to in a sequel

Heh, I would like to fight against horsemen. It would be quite diferent and interesting combat than fighting with armored infantry. A uncareful player with a hammer would probrably end being stomped by the horse. Someone with a Pole Arm would have some good luck, though. I wonder if it's possible to make mounted turn-based combat...

Yeah, that's obvious (and I don't think anyone would deny this) ... but then IT would have to make properly models and what might be even more time consuming: the animations (not to speak of balancing the whole thing). - I think that's the reason, why the didn't plan to implement it - and not, because they consider it as less fun.

They could always fix this horrible problem by allowing you to ride horses but then forcing you to dismount in order to fight.

It would still require modeling and animating the horses; more trouble than it's worth at this late stage.

For once we get a game with evil options that let you play malevolent character not just an obnoxious cunt. Happy times.

Do I smell the market for a Official AoD Horse Plug-In?
Followed soon afterwards by The Horse Armor pack (With parallax mapping!), Vendors of the Nile and Shivering Shanks.

And don't forget the Enhanced Edition with improved graphics and a whole new area! And apart from that, since TGE works on the Xbox...

The Diced Edition, toss the dice for random rolls by waggling the WiiMote. The next-gen hooligans can't whine about the lack of interaction with the number crunching atleast.
