I'm playing this. I actually think it's pretty fun. Here's the really amazing thing, it runs on my 5 years old computer. I really still can't believe this shit. Sure I upgraded my video card and RAM about 3 years ago, but my processor is still a 3.0 Pentium 4, and it runs flawlessly. I'm not upgrading my PC anymore, damn. It looks like 3d games have pretty much peaked, no? I mean, look at Bloodlines, 2004, that game looks pretty much on par with Mass Effect 2. Or maybe Bioware are getting good at optimizing their games, I don't know.

I wasn't interested in the Mass Effect games because they looked like Star wars bullshit to me. I did play Mass Effect 1 beforehand, it was ok, side missions were horrible. Scanning bullshit with MA2 blows my mind, not sure why they did this, but everyone's been over this. I really like the Renegade shit. It feels like a 80 movie all the way. I think I play them just to get the giggles the renegade choices induce. Punching the interviewer in MA2 was pretty awesome, I still can't get over it, I laugh everytime I think about it.

What I like in these games is that you play Shepard. I know this sounds weird, but I think it makes the narrative more focused. I don't see it as a RPG obviously, more like an action adventure game. Who cares, I don't feel like being anal over this. I mean, it's nice to be a game elitist but in the end it's all just dumb entertainment, to me. I really just think the action and the presentation is good, it's that shallow. I know I'm tossing my credibility as a gaming snob out the window here, and so I am. Fuck it, it's a cool game, and that's my last word on it. I think this is the type of game Bioware should be making. It doesn't have huge prententions of being an old school rpg, because Bioware were never able to make games like that.

Agreed perfectly with you. Except I don't really have anything snobby about me, except when I'm talking about my Super Mario Bros skills (I'm really good at it! Tongue).

Can't bring myself to play it a second time for now though. That goes for all games, ehh. Except Gothic II, which I replayed 3 times after each other in two days. Every other game out there, it takes months before I attempt to touch the game again.

Odd, I've been seeing tons of people saying how they usually don't replay games they've completed but they're on their fifth or sixth ME2 playthrough. I almost always play through games multiple times, but I haven't done it with a game this much since Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Loved that game.

And yes, I hope we see more of that reporter in ME3.

Next time she needs to have a body guard in case Shepard punches her again (if the game spots that he did so the previous two times).

The punch animation was better in ME2 too. In the first one it was kinda meh.

Quoted for truth.

I myself rarely replay games (the last game I replayed was Assassin's Creed) but I completed ME2 twice and, in between a few other games I am currently playing, I started the third playthrough, as a renegade. I don't give a damn whatever it's called - RPG or a flying banana. The game is fun and that's all that matters to me.

I even managed to extract some retarded fun from scanning the planets - by using as few probes as ellorienly possible. My record was 6 probes, but that happened only once. Usually I'd end up launching 8-9 probes (rich -> depleted). I am, like, so proud.

I agree with Gareth - this is the best BW game since BG2.

Yeah I don't know why myself! It's not exclusive to this game like I said, it's every game out there! Even the classical Fallout, Arcanum etc.

Brag away, that's a legitimate accomplishment as far as I'm concerned Grin

I brag about my Contra skills (can beat it without dying in under 15 minutes) and my Ninja Gaiden II skills (no deaths).

Those games were fucking hard!

Maybe I was a bit harsh when i said it was horrible, but you guys couldn't of seriously thought the dialogue was good...

Shepard: i still dont trust you cerberus!
illusive man or w,e: you don't need to trust us, just do what we say!
shepard: fine but im keeping my eye on you!
illusive man: ok idc go do my missions idiot.

Well, to be honest, there are a number of things I would criticise...but the dialogue isn't one of them. Apart from certain convos like the one you just mentioned, in general the dialogue is adequate (and so is the voice acting). Nothing brilliant or out of this world, just 'adequate'.

The dialogue is much better than some games I've played.  As to Shepard following the Illusive Man's orders, that's more a matter of necessity; Cerberus is the only organisation that believes the Reapers even exist, and someone has to pay the new Normandy's crew...

Oh, another thing that pisses me off are all the alien-human or human human including lesbo hot sex relationships that keep taking place in mass effect games, i find its pure stupidity seeing as people keep calling it "art" because they have to resort to e-relationships since they're incapable of getting sex in real life  Wallbang

"We have failed to uphold Brannigan's Law. However I did make it with a hot alien babe. And in the end, is that not what man has dreamt of since first he looked up at the stars?"

Any form of storytelling, from novels to plays to music to RPGs, will eventually include love/sex in the matrix of things it explores as it matures as a medium. It is simply the natural evolution of things.

Btw, true story, I ended up showing a girl I brought over the sex scene with Miranda, after she asked what I'd been doing that day and I showed her ME2. We both agreed, it was hawt (I was impressed with Bioware there, almost no uncanny valley at all). Sexy times followed shortly thereafter. So you may want to re-examine your opinion there Wink

What a coincidence!

I find almost everything you say to be stupid.

So Mass Effect has given you sex, Gareth? I guess I should stop showing girls The Elephant Man, it doesn't exactly make you feel horny when watching. I tear, like a lady. Sad
